Plan: SewcieTea Dress

Melanie from Seamstress: Poppykettle is hosting an icing event, Sewcie Tea, in April. The only condition is that we all have to dress up. I am beyond excited! In preparation, I was mentally shopping my fabric and pattern stash recently and came up with an interesting combination.

I am thinking Vogue 8723 in an interesting wool blend remnant that I snatched up at Tessuti at the first Melbourne Sewist's Meet Up in August. I'm going to use a contrasting Mokuba grosgrain ribbon in a rose pink or lavendar colour for the straps and possibly to make a removable belt.

What do you think? Can I pull it off?

  1. Yes, totally! The textural contrast between the grosgrain and the wool-blend sounds amazing.

  3. Everything you make is so nice I can't see this being the exception. The fabric is very pretty.

  4. That is a really interesting pattern on the wool. The contrast straps sound fun and should really pick up the colours in your fabric. Also really liking this pattern- super cute!

  5. Sounds like a good pairing! From what I can see so far most people are planning fuller skirts for the day. I'd best get cracking on my muslin...

    1. You are totally NOT getting to that remnant table first this time!
