Sew: Butterick 3597 Pencil Skirt

The completion of Butterick 3597 in the remaining blueberry ponti creates the "Peplum Dress" that I was after. The top is Vogue 8815 that I made a few weeks ago. I thought that separates would be more versatile as I can wear the individual items separately. I plan on making a black top to go with the blue skirt and I wear the blue peplum with a black pair of capri pants with wedge heels.

This ponti is a dream to sew with. It is beautiful and soft. Plus I adore the colour. I'd love some orange ponti.

Pattern: Butterick 3597
Fabric: Blueberry Ponti from Tessuti Fabrics

I am slowly pulling my work wardrobe together.

Travel: Perth

On the weekend I packed my bags and headed solo to Perth for my cousins wedding. I left the husband and kids at home for 3 whole days! I hooked up with my parents, who had come from Queensland, and we spent a lovely 3 days gallivanting around Perth & the Swan Valley.

Armed with We Love Perth on our phones we hit the streets. First up, Fremantle! Wandering the streets, shopping, eating and drinking coffee was a nice way to start the day. I re-discovered Morrison pants after 2 babies and 4 years. I seriously love Morrison pants. Australian designed and made!!

We tasted the beers at Little Creatures before indulging in a seafood lunch whilst watching the boats.

Later that night we strolled the malls of Perth city and lined up for a Korean feast. The next day we had the morning free before heading out to the Swan Valley for my cousins wedding. We hiked over to Northbridge to find it deserted. Thankfully Little Willies was open and we drank coffee and ate bircher muesli whilst teaching my dad how to use an iPhone. How cute are my parents?!

In Northbridge we visited the museum and art gallery before wandering around a young designers market. I bought a bunch of paper flowers made from old dressmaking patterns and a hair clip made of buttons!

The wedding was lovely and it was great to see my family. We came from all over Australia and don't often get to see each other. My mum and I both wore dresses that we'd made. I'm sporting a Simplicity 2444 in an amazing silk/wool blend that I picked up at The Fabric Store. My mum wore Butterick 5319 in a black and white polka dot silk from Shanghai.

During the weekend, my mum also wore a Vogue 8747 that she made up in a Liberty fabric (Red Pepper) that I gave her for Christmas. It was lovely. If I look like this when I've 60, I'll be one happy lady!

Thanks for a lovely weekend M & D! Now back to reality and my sewing machine...
