Sew: Tessuti Alexa T-Top in Marc Jacobs

I made another Alexa T-Top this week. Such a great basic t-shirt pattern. I might try a more scooped neckline next time. More like the Renfrew top. It's a close call but I think I like this pattern more than the Renfrew!

The fabric is a tomato red Marc Jacobs double knit from The Fabric Store. It is beautiful, soft and cuddly. It also has a barely noticeable print. A little warm for today's unseasonable warmth. I love the rich red colour.

The neckline of this pattern is finished really well. Nice and professional looking.

  1. It's a gorgeous top - I love the teeny-hardly-visible pattern to it!

  2. Very pretty! Would you mind giving a comparison between this top and the renfrew? What gives this one the edge in your opinion? (I have already bought the Renfrew and am wondering if I need another tshirt pattern in my life :)

    1. Hi! Don't get me wrong, I do love the Renfrew. However, I find the band around the hips not very flattering. It can also pull the fabric especially if you use a fabric with poor recovery. The Renfrew is also a looser fit t-shirt. Which works well if that's the style you're after. I wear my black linen Renfrew a lot with pencil skirts. I would love to combine the scoop neckline of the Renfrew with the fit of the Alexa. I like the Alexa for it's fitted mid-section and the finish on the hem and arms. And the cowl neck of the Renfrew is great! I hope this helps.
