Sew: Vogue 8815 Peplum Top

Well, you certainly didn't see it here first! This is the pattern of the week! Vogue 8815, aka the Peplum Top pattern. Jorth has made it. Colette from Sew Tessuti has made it. TwiceErica B has styled it to the max. Mimi G totally rocked it. Anyone else?

I originally purchased this ponti for a dress but wasn't quite sure which one to go for. Then I saw this pattern on Voguepatterns.com and quickly made my decision. I am in the process of making a pencil skirt to go with this top for a peplum "dress" look, but I couldn't wait to wear this top! I love the colour and the style is fun and a bit flirty.

I switched the sleeves for the cap sleeves from Vogue 8787 and lined the sleeves and bodice. I cut a size 18 (yay!) and graded the sides in by an extra inch at the armhole. I could possibly drop the bust dart by an inch in my next version. Yes, there will be another one (or two, or three!).

Have you jumped on the Peplum Top bandwagon yet?

  1. It looks fantastic and you look fantastic! I love the peplum tops I am seeing pop up at the moment. I'm planning on making one for my hourglass shaped cousin, but not convinced that the peplum would flatter my apple shaped figure. I'm planning on using New Look 6130. Not sure about what fabric - but those ponte peplum tops are fabulous!

  3. You look stunning in your new top! Love the Blueberry colour on you and the mini cap sleeves. We've definitely caught the 'peplum fever' over here, my other daughter has requested one too :-/
Ponti and this peplum top are a match made in heaven and not much ironing required...bonus!

  4. Yes, I'm on the bandwagon too - I made 2 for winter; a clinical white long-sleeved version and an OTT burgandy/cream stripes & silk version!

Your cap sleeved version looks great - it definitely looks worth revisiting this pattern for summer :-)

  10. Very snazzy Leith, I've got plans for NL 6130 in mint green fabric, I need to cut it out. I love the colour, by the time I decided I wanted some, it had sold out. Are you making the skirt out of the same coloured fabric?

  13. I just bought this top in the Pattern sales and was also planning on modifying the sleeves - what was Vogue thinking, the short sleeves look terrible! Your cap sleeves look great - I am definitely going to do that! You look fantastic :)
