Sew: Zebra Coasters
at
11:45
I got sick of covering the stains with my coffee cup on our old set of coasters, so I made a snazzy new set out of the remaining bit of zebra print linen left over from my Vogue 8552 dress.
I use a 12 x 12cm cardboard template to cut two squares of fabric and one square of stiff interfacing and use a 1cm seam allowance. Once turned and pressed, I topstitch around the edges.
Simple. They go perfectly with my black, white and red kitchen. Plus they match my dress!

Home: Laundry
at
07:00
After an extended break from my "spring" cleaning, I got back in to it and finally cleaned the laundry. It was induced by my washing machine dying from exhaustion and the need for a brand spanking new Bosch 7.5kg front loader. Do you know how long it takes to hang out 7.5kg of little kids clothes?! F.o.r.e.v.e.r.
And it has a child-lock!!!
And yes, my laundry is on the back deck...

Home: Kitchen & Dining
at
19:59
Today I cleaned the kitchen & dining area. Once again, from the very top to the very bottom. My arms hurt from scrubbing but it is good to have a clean kitchen. Not just tidy but clean, super clean. I now only have my sewing room and lounge to go. The sewing room is going to be a BIG job...
As you can see, I have a thing for vintage tea towels. There is something about them. Pure linen. Quirky. They just don't make them like they used to...

Home: Kid's Room
at
20:00
I spent all day yesterday cleaning out our house. We don't have a particularly big house so it needs a clean out every so often to stop the accumulation of stuff. I haven't finished yet... I've still got the study/sewing room, kitchen and lounge to go. I am also only half way through our bedroom. I did however completely clean the boy's room. From head to toe, even the skirting boards!!
It is a happy room.

Idea: Fabric Tissue Box
at
06:00
When I was in The Fabric Store a few weeks ago I spotted this fabric covered tissue box. How cool is that?! It is basically just a box of tissues wrapped in a scrap of fabric, like a present, with a slit cut for the opening.
Simple but very clever and pretty.
